There appeared another page in the chronicle of modern Ekaterinburg - on January 25th of 2009 the opening of Urals-Scottish society was held. The opening coincided with 250th anniversary of the favorite scottish poet Robert Burns's birth.
If you look at the history of relations between Russia and Great Britain, Urals and Scotland, you see a lot of interesting and coincidences. Here are just few of them:
Russia and Scotland has one patron - Saint Andrew
Prominent russian poet M.Y.Lermontov appeared to be a descendant of well-known scottish family of Lermont.

Sir R.I.Murchison - geologist, explorer - opened Perm period of paleozoic era on Urals being a member of scientific geological expedition.
Al these evoke real, sincere interest and desire to get to know closer historical heritage, culture, modern life of scots who have similar to Urals people spirit, world outlook and mentality.
